Fall in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We were a little early for prime time, so there were a lot of yellows, but not many oranges or reds.

Just off the side of the road
While the views from the Blue Ridge Parkway are beautiful, they can't compare to what you find when you turn onto one of the backroads. We found this waterfall, approximately 20'-25' tall, beside the road... We glanced over and could only see the top. We pulled off the road and began our climb down to the bottom of the falls. This time of year, the water is ice cold but we played under the falls nonetheless.

This image is of the Walker Sisters Cabin located near Metcalf Bottom. It was home to the sister until 1964.
